FAQs Cosmetics

  • Cosmetic tattooing, also known as permanent makeup, involves the application of pigments to enhance facial features such as eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips. This technique utilizes specialized equipment to implant color into the skin, providing a long-lasting solution for those seeking definition or symmetry. Ideal for individuals with busy lifestyles, allergies to makeup, or those wishing to save time on their daily beauty routines, cosmetic tattooing offers a subtle enhancement that can boost confidence while maintaining a natural look.

  • Cosmetic tattooing has come a long way in recent years. Many new and better tools/training have become available to help provide the best results. Having been trained in both worlds, I can tell you that the techniques, equipment, ink, aftercare, and even experience are vastly different. Most importantly, however, the ink is not as "saturated" as typical tattoo inks and are formulated to sit best in sensitive areas of the skin like the face. The machines used for cosmetics are also built to "hit" softer to create smoother shading and a more natural look.

  • As a part-time Cosmetics artist, Izzy only charge $400 for a new set of brows and this includes one free touchup. Further touch ups are advised after 2-3 years and are priced at $175

Freckles start at $100 and go up from there based on coverage - first touch up is included in price.

  • If you’ve had PMU work done in the past, you may not be a good candidate.

    • While touch ups and corrections to PMU brows done by another artist are possible, Izzy does not currently offer these services as she will only touch up/correct her own work.

Some skin types/conditions are not advisable to get PMU:

    • Permanent makeup is not advised for Fitzpatrick Skin types 1 (light blonde or red heads/translucent skin/light eyes). Due to hypersensitivity and thinness of this skin type, it generally does not hold the colour well and can bleed quite easily.

    • The following skin conditions compromise the outcome of a procedure:

      • Ingrown hairs and open bumps on eyebrow-injured skin cannot be tattooed

      • Eczema (constant flaking/itching/irritation/shedding of skin)

      • Psoriasis (constant flaking/itching/irritation/shedding of skin)

      • Dermatitis (constant flaking/itching/irritation/shedding of skin)

      • Rosacea (chronic acne-like skin indicated by redness)

      • Severely oily skin on eyebrows (microblading hair strokes will appear more blended, solid, or not retain at all)

      • Large pores on your forehead & in the eyebrow area (colour will blur/blend in large pores resulting in a powdered look)

      • Have moles/raised areas/piercings in or around the brow/eye area (anything raised or indented will not retain colour)

      • Deep wrinkles in the brow area (the hair strokes will not lay properly in the creases, giving the eyebrows an uneven look)

      • Hair transplant for your eyebrows (colour will not take in the scar tissue where the plugs were placed)

      • Shingles (permanent makeup should not be performed as the procedure could cause a flare-up)

  • Over time, your permanent makeup will fade due to many factors including, sun expsosure To maintain the colour and shape, touch ups are advised every 2 to 3 years. A good indication of needing maintenance is when you start having to add to your permanent makeup with your normal products.

  • The first pass must be done with no numbing as the solution is only effective on broken skin. After the first pass however, I do apply a numbing solution to help alleviate any pain.

Just like any tattoo procedure, it may hurt, but most clients are comfortable after numbing is applied.
